What it does
The Customer Information Services API details the relationship between a customer number and allowed payers. It also includes payment methods and other information to determine shipping costs.
How it works
A package can have up to three different customer numbers associated with it:
- Mailed-by: The customer number of the Canada Post customer preparing and mailing the package.
- Mailed-on-behalf-of (MOBO): The customer number of the owner of the mail. This is usually the same as the mailed-by customer number. The MOBO customer number will be a different number in situations where the mailed-by customer is preparing and mailing packages on behalf of another customer.
- Payer: The customer number of the Canada Post customer paying for the shipping. This is usually the same as either the mailed-by customer number or the MOBO customer number. The payer customer number will be a different number in situations where another party is paying for the shipping.

We've updated our APIs to improve security and performance. Protocols are now REST-only with JSON standardization (XML and SOAP are no longer supported), and OAuth 2.0 Bearer tokens are now mandatory for all requests. We've also added YAML configuration files and expanded support for 10 programming languages.

Customer Information Services calls
Customer Information Services functionality is provided through the following calls:
